MRI provided A/E design concepts and construction documents for the 1,100sf retail store. All store fixtures were custom designed. This is the first NASA retail store at the Orlando International Airport (OIA). MRI was comissioned to also design the second NASA retail store at OIA.

In designing the KSC retail store, MRI created environments that support the NASA Mission Statement: 'To understand and protect our home planet, To explore the Universe and search for life, To inspire the next generation of explorers, As only NASA can.' To carry out this goal, the retail spaces and fixtures were custom-designed to display an assortment of educational toys and gifts that are unique to the space novelty/gift market, giving everyone who passes through an opportunity to take a piece of the NASA experience home with them, for themselves or family and friends. Additionally, educational books and models, signed photos supporting both current and future NASA missions, projects and historical events are merchandised within each store.
